DMI Companies Recognizes that People Do Matter!

In what has seemingly become a rather impersonal world, it is a breath of fresh air to find companies that are still concerned about their most valuable assets, their people. The Pittsburgh Human Resources Association (PHRA) distinguishes this value in their recognition of southwestern Pennsylvania employers whose human resource practices best demonstrate the importance of providing workers a positive return on their contributions of time, attention, ideas, knowledge, passion, energy, and social networks to ensure productivity, efficiency, and business results.
Each year, the PHRA and its partner organizations acknowledge all types of organizations - large and small, new and established, for-profit and not-for-profit – from across the region as they present the “People Do Matter Awards.” The awards and initiative were designed to recognize employers that have adopted creative strategies in three areas: People, Learning and Development, and Work Structures and Processes. DMI Companies has been nominated in the Work Structure and Processes category, designed for employers who have implemented approaches to facilitate positive change, improve organizational and employee productivity, and create value in the marketplace and for the company’s customers. This is defined by policies that communicate vision and strategy throughout the organization, align processes and systems with business strategy, adapt to technological change, and harness high involvement to drive change. Other nominees in this area with DMI Companies are Alpern Rosenthal and Joy Global, Inc.
A company is nominated when an individual (from HR department, company CEO, other employee, client, vendor, etc.) submits a nomination on behalf of a company’s organizational development, learning initiatives, and/or human resources, as it is recognition of organizational, versus individual, achievement. Previous nominees and winners were chosen often for their abilities’ to “move away from a ‘business as usual’ mindset.”

The winners for each category (as well as special recognitions given for achievements related to increasing diversity, innovation, significant progress, etc.) will be announced at the awards reception on May 14th at the Sheraton Station Square Hotel. The host for the presentation ceremony will be Pittsburgh’s own Emmy winning correspondent Tonia Caruso from WQED and the evening’s keynote speaker will be Nordstrom Ross Park Mall store manager Carl Jenkins.

Congratulations to DMI Companies for their efforts and recognition that great employees don’t just happen – great companies create and nurture them.
