Ductmate Partners with AMS to Build New Gen7 Concept House

Posted on April 15, 2026 by Ductmate Industries

Reposted from December 2015

Ductmate Industries has teamed with American Modular Systems (AMS) to build a Gen7 Concept House on a 50-acre working vineyard in Lodi Wine Country. Designed to achieve LEED Platinum certification, River Vine Vineyards will be one of the most advanced, high-end prefabricated residences ever constructed—a state-of-the-art smart home that will take sustainable prefabricated design and construction to the next level. The Zero Net Energy building will integrate renewable energy systems, environmentally friendly materials, and cutting-edge products in a home that is livable, functional, and energy-independent, utilizing both solar and geothermal technologies to produce as much energy as it consumes over the course of a year.

“Ductmate Industries will be instrumental in making River Vine the inspirational building we know it can be,” Tony Sarich, owner of River Vine and co-founder of AMS and Gen7 Schools, said. “Quality products like Ductmate’s are essential to our energy-saving strategies, because they’re sustainably made, highly efficient and hold up to daily use over the building’s long lifecycle.”

According to Sarich, River Vine will showcase a 21st-century living environment, combining modern design elements, advanced technology and modular building science within a sustainable footprint that meets multifunctional needs. The home will be fully automated, with all systems, appliances, and electrical components networked for centralized control from a single touchpoint. This concept can be replicated in future Gen7 classrooms and other buildings.

Construction on River Vine has begun at the AMS factory in Manteca and is expected to be completed by summer 2016.

For more information, visit the River Vine website.

Posted on October 31, 2025 by Ductmate Industries

We encourage you to take advantage of our variety of value-added services and resources available to you to make your next job as simple as possible!  Learn more below.

Rectangular Duct Construction Standards

We provide a comprehensive Rectangular Duct Construction Standards guide for the proper design and assembly of rectangular ductwork utilizing the DM ‘25’/’35’/’45’ rectangular flange connector systems. These standards detail the systems’ components and provide tables for duct reinforcement and fastening requirements based on duct size and static pressure class in accordance with SMACNA standards.

This guide is essential for engineers, architects, and contractors to ensure that assembled duct connections are rigid, virtually leak-free, and meet specific industry performance criteria for both positive and negative-pressure applications.

You can access the guide at any time in the Technical Resources section of our website.  Still have questions? We are also available to consult or assist with any duct system design questions you may have via phone or email.

Specialized Product Assistance & Support

We understand that some of our product lines are technical, even for seasoned HVAC Pros. That’s why we have Product Line Managers (PLMs) available to answer questions about the details of each of our products.  Each PLM is assigned a specific Ductmate product line family, allowing them to provide expert assistance on their specific products.

Answers to your questions or problems as they occur are only a phone call away. Our engineering and technical assistance department will back up their information with test results and technical data to solidify your position as the on-site HVAC expert. Whenever you have a difficult or critical HVAC project, we can provide the technical assistance that gives you a strong competitive edge when you’re bidding, fabricating, and installing.

For those unusual, challenging, or downright difficult projects, Ductmate’s trained specialists can back up your personnel in several key areas. We are committed to providing you with the quality and service you expect and deserve when using any Ductmate product.

Engineering Assistance & Product Specification Review

Our experts are available to work with you to design and engineer the best possible solution to difficult or unusual systems. Whether you’re dealing with high winds, snow loads, excessive pressures, specialty alloys, or critical air systems, we’ve dealt with virtually every difficult and unusual duct application you may encounter.

We also offer detailed project specification review services.  Please send your general specifications to orders@ductmate.com. Our experts will review the information and recommend a comprehensive solution for your project. We can compare your specs with current industry standards and suggest beneficial upgrades.

Custom Cut-to-Length Services

Custom cut-to-length services are available on Ductmate flange systems over 50”, as well as Standing S, Slips, and Drives. This simple solution is not only convenient but will also save you time and money in the long run by reducing labor time and scrap.

Additional lead times and charges may apply.  Consult Customer Service for more information.

Hands-On Training

Our experts are available to provide comprehensive, hands-on product training at your shop or job site upon request. Whether you’re new to the HVAC industry or a seasoned professional looking for a refresher on our products, anyone can benefit from a training session.

Additionally, specialized Distributor Training Classes are offered periodically throughout the year at our Pennsylvania facilities to help our distributors succeed. During this three-day experience, you will spend time with our Ductmate Sales team and PLMs to learn all the features, benefits, technical aspects, and selling techniques of our products in a relaxed classroom atmosphere, gain valuable hands-on experience and learn directly from our experts on how our products work in the field, and see our facilities and get a first-hand look at how our products are manufactured. Class dates are posted at the beginning of each year, and spots are reserved on a first-come, first-served basis.  Hotel accommodations, transportation to and from our facilities, and dining are all provided at no cost to you.

Online Resources

All Ductmate products are backed by detailed specification sheets, with most including installation instructions.  To save you time finding the specs you need on our website, you can browse our product spec sheets in the Technical Resources section, or visit the product pages directly and scroll down to the Related Resources section.

We also offer detailed assembly and installation videos and manuals to help ensure the system is installed correctly from the start. Find everything you need—right on our website.

Removable & Breakaway Connections Available for Rectangular Flange Connection Systems

removable and breakway connections for rectangular flange connection systems

Posted on October 31, 2025 by Ductmate Industries

Ductmate offers removable and breakaway connections for rectangular flange connection systems. Learn more below.

Removable Connections

Removable fasteners provide quick, easy access for maintenance, inspections, and repairs. They are also used for temporary assembly during fabrication and for systems that may need reconfiguration.

Our removable connections feature carriage bolts and nuts, or hand-tightened wing nuts.

Breakaway Connections

Breakaway connections are safety devices that allow ductwork to detach from a fire damper sleeve during a fire, which keeps the damper securely in place within the fire-rated opening. The breakaway connection is designed to fail under this force before the entire damper is pulled out of the fire-rated opening.  This maintains the fire barrier’s integrity, preventing the spread of flames, smoke, and heat through the opening.

Our breakaway connections feature nylon bolts and nylon nuts, or hand-tightened wing nuts.

Installation Instructions

IMPORTANT: During fabrication, do not notch duct sections or sleeves when using the Ductmate Rectangular Flange System. Refer to the assembly and installation manual for complete details.

  1. Cut flange to the proper length for each respective profile.
  2. Assemble each frame by inserting corner pieces into the hollow web of the flange.
  3. Slide completed frames onto each duct section and sleeve, making sure that the assembly is thoroughly seated into the integral mastic pocket of the flange.
  4. Apply a small amount of water-based duct sealant to the inside edge of each corner at the corresponding raw edge of the duct or sleeve.
  5. Apply a continuous strip of closed-cell neoprene gasket to the entire face of one of the frames, making sure that the gasket covers the inside edge of each corner and the corresponding raw edge of the duct or sleeve.
  6. Align the opposing frame and duct section to be connected and insert a carriage bolt into all four corners and firmly tighten. For applications requiring toolless access, use wing nuts instead of standard nuts (see fastener requirements below).
  7. Apply 6” metal or PVC cleat according to the following schedule:
  • For ½”-2” WG/SP, use 6” cleat 24” OC
  • For 3-4” WG/SP, use 6” cleat 18” OC
  • For 6-10” WG/SP, use 6” cleat 12” OC

IMPORTANT: For breakaway connections, use only PVC cleat with a minimum of one per side
